Oregon Photo & Digital Helps Customers Digitize Large Quantities of Film Based Photos with KODAK s1220 Photo Scanning System
Tuesday 07. October 2008 - From customized photobooks to online social networks, digital pictures enable personal memories to be shared quickly and easily.
However, with trillions of images still contained on film based prints, many consumers need a solution to convert these photos into a digital format. To help meet this demand, Oregon Photo & Digital, a photo retailer near Portland, offers its customers a service powered by the KODAK s1220 Photo Scanning System, which can digitize up to 30 photos per minute.
“For our customers, having their prints in a digital format provides them with a better way to maintain their photo collection and extends the capabilities of how those images can be used, in print or on the Internet,” said Wayne Welch, President, Oregon Photo & Digital, and PMA – The Worldwide Community of Imaging Associations Territorial Vice President of 2008. “The KODAK s1220 Photo Scanning System is a valuable resource for any photo retailer, offering a fast, easy to use solution for providing high quality digital images at a minimal cost.”
The high speed capabilities of the s1220 Photo Scanning System allow Oregon Photo to offer more competitive pricing on its scanning services due to the lower price per scan and reduce the need for training. The digital images captured from scanned images are available to customers in the form of CDs, DVDs, photobooks, photo calendars, enlarged prints and other products.
“The built in software and image processing capabilities of the s1220 Photo Scanning System have taken the rocket science out of digitizing photos and allow anyone to utilize these solutions, from entry level employees to digital imaging veterans,” said Welch. “Kodaks combination of image capture hardware and software creates a high performance package that competes with more expensive solutions and can provide a quick return on investment.”
Oregon Photo has customized its own software to utilize the scanners duplex scanning capabilities, which enable photographs with information on both sides of a photo to be captured and recorded. The photo retailer also utilizes the optional A4 flatbed scanning extension, which enables the KODAK s1220 Photo Scanning System to capture prints up to 11 in. x 17 in. in size.
“The benefits of the s1220 Photo Scanning System extend beyond the consumer market,” said Dennis Hutson, Business Development Manager, Document Imaging, Kodaks Graphic Communications Group. “The KODAK s1220 Photo Scanning System can serve a variety of industries that need to digitize photographs for record keeping or other services, including retailers, government agencies and insurance firms.”
