EMBALLAGE 2008 PREVIEW: THE MAIN PACKAGING TRENDS IN THE COSMETICS, PHARMACEUTICALS AND LUXURY SECTORS

Monday 29. September 2008 - Traditionally, nearly 13% of visitors to EMBALLAGE World Packaging Exhibition are from the cosmetics, beauty and healthcare sectors, and more than 60% of them are senior managers.

From 17 to 21 November this year, once again EMBALLAGE 2008 will fulfil its promises and offer visitors a show bursting with innovations.

So far, more than 200 new products have already been registered by our exhibitors. Here’s a sneak preview of the key emerging trends in the cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and luxury sectors:

A certain “instrumentalisation” of cosmetics
Facilitating beauty routines and boosting the effectiveness of the active agents, packaging and accessories mix, spread and distribute products of different textures at the moment of use, carefully protecting them from the air. Smart stoppers with shape memory carefully control the quantities. Rituals are simplified with single applications for greater ease of use.

Packaging: an external sign of beauty
Originality and attractiveness are the crucial factors for packaging for the beauty and luxury sector. But the effect is all the more striking when a brand customises standard packaging. Standard tubes, capsules, bottles, boxes are all new territories to be conquered.

Safety first and foremost!
All the packaging for healthcare products presented at EMBALLAGE 2008 has the shared goal of promoting safety. Disinfectant containers help combat the spread of hospital-acquired infection, and new foam materials protect refrigerated vaccines being despatched all over the world. Packaging innovations for this market include increasingly user-friendly droppers and blister packs.

Well-being in a healthy environment
Packaging in the beauty and hygiene sector is increasingly eco-friendly, re-usable, reduced or biodegradable in the form of film or blister packs. It is now possible to create colourful designs without using toxic substances and to use biodegradable bags made from mineral materials.

This innovative dimension is highlighted at the Exhibition, where 45% of the exhibitors will be presenting equipment, packaging, containers or solutions designed for pharmaceutical products, 42% for cosmetics and 16% for the luxury sector.

This is a unique opportunity to discover the latest innovations in these sectors.

It is also the occasion for every visitor to establish the optimum benchmark, for which 3 halls are an absolute must:

– Hall 3 with B&L: all the packaging solutions for liquid products.
– Hall 5: all the equipment for packaging in the beauty/healthcare sectors
– Hall 6: a special area devoted to containers and beauty/healthcare packs, a Luxury area focusing on the specific needs of this market.

There will also be a wealth of demonstrations and networking sessions. An entire cross-sector offer awaits visitors to EMBALLAGE 2008, where they will discover technology that is original and designed to meet their needs.

EMBALLAGE 2008 is THE showcase for tomorrow’s trends and luxury!!!
