A gazelle on the graphic savannah
Tuesday 16. September 2008 - Cacidi Systems has been nominated as a gazelle company by the Børsen newspaper.
Cacidi Systems, one of the worlds leading developers of plug-ins for Adobe InDesign, has been awarded the title of gazelle by the Børsen newspaper – a distinction applied to less than half a percent of all 560,000 active Danish companies.
A gazelle is a company that in four consecutive financial years shows continuous growth and at the same time achieves a doubling of either turnover or gross profits.
– Our success so far is first and foremost due to the quality and application of the software products and solutions we develop and market. Richard Andersen, the founder of our company, who is also our product strategist and chief software developer, set up Cacidi Systems at the beginning of this decade with the vision of creating a series of automatic tools for graphic production.
– Our focus has always been on the greatest possible range and user friendliness and to optimise and ease work processes for graphics companies. These include professional advertising agencies, newspapers or in-house marketing departments in Danish commercial enterprises, says Jesper Løngaa, the Business Development Manager and co-owner of Cacidi Systems. He continues:
Simple and brilliant
The product development strategy was just as simple as it was brilliant: The software products for graphic automation from Cacidi must be design-driven tools that graphic artists are able to relate to naturally, says Jesper Løngaa. In contrast to the attempts by other software companies to automate graphic production with programming tools for other programmers. They did not let graphic designers have the influence, freedom and control in their production of product catalogues and price lists, etc.
– We could meet the need of marketing people and graphic designers to own their productions and at the same time enjoy the advantages of lightning-quick automatic deployment of large amounts of text and illustrations. Our customer base was quickly generated and Richard did not for a minute abandon his strategy about how our software products should be developed. This strategy permeates all that we currently do in the company, says Jesper Løngaa.
Just a few years after the start-up, Cacidi Systems expanded both its staff and product range. At the beginning of 2004, Cacidi Systems launched Version 4 of a solution for automatic and flexible production of catalogues and price lists in the market, a solution that is still one of the companys key products and one which is continually being optimised.
This is a solution which with its automatic features is able to reduce production time by an average of 20% of the time graphic designers previously spent on manual work. It can simultaneously create structure in and overview of heavy graphics productions.
In the middle of 2004, Cacidi Systems expanded its solution with Internet-based graphics tools where the core technology in the company catalogue production software also works as the engine for Internet-based production of advertisements, posters, price lists and much more.
A so-called web-to-print solution
But this is not any old web-to-print solution. The solution from Cacidi Systems differentiates itself significantly from the other solutions on the world market as it builds up professionally looking graphics documents based on what has been entered by Internet users who are not necessarily graphics experts. When documents were wholly or partially built up on the Internet, they could then be picked up by graphic designers, printing houses and in-house printing departments.
Cacidi Systems Internet-based solutions have made it possible to enhance the tools graphic designers use with the obvious advantages of the Internet for collaboration and communication.
Jesper Løngaa also attributes a large part of the companys success to the employees that make up Cacidi Systems. “It is a pleasure to be part of a team where everyones skill, good humour, great personality and healthy ambition shine through so clearly as the direct reason for the results on our bottom line,” concludes Jesper Løngaa.
