Thursday 11. September 2008 - The market introduction of BERICAP SuperShorty is progressing. After the conversion of beer in PET from PCO 1810 to PCO 1881 in Germany, SuperShorty has been introduced for aseptic filling in China and for carbonated drinks in Europe. With in the next months BERICAP will increase its capacity for SuperShorty to more than 5 billon units.

BERICAP has enhanced its SuperShorty portfolio suitable to PCO 1881. The venting capacity of the SuperShorty design has been enlarged to ensure safe venting on 2,5 l-bottles filled with up to 4,5 Vol%CO2. Safe venting means that the risk of blow-off has been reduced drastically also for cases when consumers unscrew the closure with excessive speed. All SuperShorty variants are equipped with the well proven DoubleSeal system for safe sealing also under hot climate conditions. In addition SuperShorty has been perfected to ensure proper rinsing after wet decontamination in aseptic filling lines.

A change from PCO1810 to PCO 1881 reduces also the weight of the entire package. In case of a CSD package the neck weight is reduced from 5,05 g to 3,82 g. The total weight saving adds up to more than 2 g for neck and closure. At the same time such a reduction in resin supports all efforts to save non-renewable resources and to reduce the output of CO2 (Carbon Footprint).

The SuperShorty closure range consists of the SuperShorty Crown, mainly used by beer fillers, the SuperShorty CSD used by bottlers of carbonated drinks, the SuperShorty Eco as a low weight alternative to SuperShorty CSD for carbonated water and carbonated drinks and the SuperShorty Still for still drinks.

There is also a SuperShorty for hotfill applications available.

BBERICAP has converted 20 lines from PCO 1810 to PCO 1881 meanwhile; numerous further lines will be converted soon. BERICAP supports these line conversions with its technical service team.

In order to complete the product program, BERICAP offers a 3-piece Push-Pull Sportscap for PCO 1881. A Push-Pull Sportscap without liner, suitable for wet decontamination is in preparation.
