Atalasoft Anticipates Need for Document Viewing and Imaging in SharePoint with Release of Vizit SP
Thursday 11. September 2008 - At the Digital Management Solutions trade show Atalasoft, Inc., the leading provider of document imaging tools for Microsoft .NET developers, announced the launch of Vizit SP, a solution for document viewing and imaging in Microsoft SharePoint 2007(R).
“Microsoft SharePoint offers an affordable and customizable content management platform that is already in use by over 100 million users,” said William Bither, President & CEO of Atalasoft, Inc. “The problem is that SharePoint does not offer necessary capabilities compared to traditional ECM systems. However, when combined with Vizit SP, these capabilities become available allowing small to mid-sized organizations and enterprise departments to benefit from a simple and low cost Enterprise Content Management solution.”
With its set of capabilities, Vizit SP makes viewing documents in SharePoint an integral part of the business process by indexing, viewing, and cleaning-up documents in SharePoint with no need to install software on end users’ computers. Vizit’s Scan-to-SharePoint (STS) utility gives users distributed push scanning to a SharePoint library where Vizit SP can be used to view and index the document. Vizit STS is compatible with select Kodak Scanners and is free of charge. The Vizit Previewer interface gives users fast access to thumbnail previews of TIFF, Word, PDF, and other documents in any MOSS 2007 document list or library. Vizit Previewer is free to organizations with less than 1000 employees.
Without Vizit SP, scanned images stored in SharePoint must be downloaded to the client before viewing, and the image is often not supported in the client’s viewing software. The zero-footprint document viewer built into Vizit SP will view only the necessary area of the document with Tile-On-Demand(TM) and Thumbnail-On-Demand(TM) technology that saves on bandwidth usage as well as eliminating the costs required to install and maintain client viewing software.
