Domino Paves the Way for Part Personalization at Labelexpo 2008

Bit+ v4.5 Print Head

Wednesday 10. September 2008 - Domino Amjet Inc is using Labelexpo 2008 to demonstrate how its fully integrated solutions for mailing and addressing applications offer opportunities for label and narrow web specialists to gain a competitive advantage through part personalization.

With the broadest available range of ink jet technologies, including binary, thermal, piezo and continuous, Domino offers a cost effective and high quality solution for every application, irrespective of speed, volume or format.

Labelexpo provides the opportunity for North American label printers to experience first hand the unparalleled quality and impressive speed delivered by the new Domino Bitjet+ version 4.5 binary printer. The flexibility of Domino’s L-Series thermal ink jet technology is being demonstrated, while its latest serialized and variable data capabilities are showcased by the versatile K200 piezo system and the Domino A-Series ? the world’s best-selling continuous ink jet printer.

Since its global launch in May at drupa 2008 (Düsseldorf, Germany), the innovative design and numerous product enhancements which characterize the Bitjet+ version 4.5 have attracted a huge amount of interest around the world and in the North American market in particular.
The speed boost afforded by the new version – which offers linear throughput of up to 3210 feet per minute – makes it suitable for installation on the fastest presses and in high speed applications such as slitter-rewinders.

Easily integrated with a variety of print and finishing equipment, including label and sheet-fed presses, rewinders and mailing lines, the Bitjet+ version 4.5 provides text, barcode and graphics printing capability at resolutions from 100 to 240dpi across a print width of 2.13 inches. Complemented by a wide print head-to-substrate throw distance and very fast drying inks, the printer is suitable for almost every substrate

“The key benefits of the Bitjet+ version 4.5 derive from its ability to deliver increased print quality combined with extremely high print speeds and improvements in operational efficiency,” says David Ellen, Domino Amjet’s Vice-President Sales Commercial Printing, North America. “In addition, our US customers can benefit from the capability of the Bitjet+ to print to USPS specifications, such as the new Intelligent Mail barcode, which allows them to take advantage of postal discounts available through co-mailing solutions.”

Featuring patented thermal ink jet technology, Domino’s L400 printer offers a cost-effective solution for the mailing sector. Benchmarked against established market-leading systems, the L400 has been shown to deliver speed increases of 30% at comparable print resolution, as well as sharper and consistently more reliable print quality. In addition, its powerful variable data capabilities facilitate addressing with the latest postal industry barcodes including linear and 2D codes, postage paid indicia, graphics and messaging.

The L400 is equally compatible with envelope inserters, folders and narrow print webs, delivering high print quality across every personalization application in the mailing and bindery sectors.

The versatile K200 variable data drop on demand printing solution will also be available on booth #1921. Extending from part personalization to complete printing of whole documents, Domino’s K-Series features a flexible configuration and a number of design and performance enhancements, responding to increasing market applications requiring high speed variable data printing without compromising print quality.

The K200 offers fast and accurate 316 dpi printing of text, graphics and linear or 2D bar codes at 300 feet per minute, for high efficiency in applications such as direct mail and ticket production. Where line speeds are lower, print resolution can be increased to 520dpi and print heads can be stitched together to increase the print area if required.

For part personalization applications, where overprinting of addresses and other variable data is required, the K-Series is easy to install on both offset and flexo presses. For standalone applications in the label printing sector, the compact print heads can be easily accommodated on slitter-rewinders.

With more than 100,000 installations worldwide, Domino’s A-Series is the world’s best-selling continuous ink jet printer. Designed to meet the stringent product specifications of commercial printers, the versatile A-Series CP is typically used for numbering and personalization in a wide range of applications including bindery, mailing, tickets, tags and labels and postal management. At Labelexpo the printer is being shown on a rewinder, demonstrating the ease of integration onto existing narrow web printing lines to easily provide variable data capabilities.

David Ellen concludes, “Labelexpo 2008 is an opportunity for Domino to demonstrate its most comprehensive range of solutions for part personalization. We’re confident that we can deliver the right mix of technology, efficiency and ease of use, whatever the application, so that each and every printer to benefit from the commercial opportunities afforded by in- and offline variable data printing.”
