DOMINO TO DEMONSTRATE NEW AND UNIQUE CODING SOLUTIONS AT PACK EXPO 2008

The new Domino C6000AS + can print simultaneously on two faces of a case

Monday 25. August 2008 - At Pack Expo 2008, Domino will be launching its newest coding solutions. First, Domino will showcase the new product addition to its C-Series portfolio of secondary coding technologies.

The innovative solution firmly underscores Domino’s leading position as a provider of secondary coding products, meeting long term market needs and delivering increased efficiency for manufacturing customers. Second, Domino will be showing the next generation of its acclaimed line-up of laser coding systems, the D-Series plus. The D-Series plus is a highly versatile range of industrial scribing lasers designed to provide high quality codes across a wide range of production speeds.

C6000AS plus – Adjacent Side Coding System
One of the newest products in the Domino’s C-Series line on display in Chicago will be the new C6000AS plus, a revolutionary product that responds to long term market demands for more efficient use of both equipment and production floor space. According to Mike Hurst, Product Director for Outer Case Coding at Domino Printing Sciences, the capability to print simultaneously on two faces of a case is something that the food industry in particular has long been looking for. “Business models in high volume retailing and wholesaling of food mean that several different sets of coded information may be required for the various transactions in the supply chain,” he explains. “Until now, these demands could only be met by complex installations involving multiple coding stations and turntables that require a large amount of floor space for end-of-line operations. The C6000AS plus is as easy to retrofit on existing lines as it is to install on new lines, meaning that all producers can benefit from this unique, patent-applied-for technology.”

With two coding operations synchronised via a single print head, C6000AS plus users can also benefit from easier set-up, faster production start-up and more efficient management of consumables.

D-Series plus Scribing Laser
Boasting a choice of 10-, 30- and 55-watt lasers, the D-Series plus builds on Domino’s reputation for quality and reliability, with the addition of a new modular construction, new browser-based control software and Ethernet interface to standardize connectivity with host machines, simplify integration and maximize overall equipment effectiveness.

Key to the appeal of the new Domino D-Series plus is its flexibility of application, afforded by the modular nature of its design, which allows flexible laser head orientations for easy integration in multiple directions. The controller box and Ethernet web server are contained within a single housing, which is compatible with the standard 19-inch rack systems commonly found in industrial settings and more particularly within the control cabinet of packaging machines. Ethernet connectivity means that the user interface can be integrated via the main control panel of the host machine for OEM installations or for retrofits, an additional Domino color touch screen panel can be supplied. Either way, the new design makes for a more streamlined installation, with clear access points for production and technical operations respectively.

Thorsten Foecking, Product Director for Domino’s laser product range, says, “The D-series plus range will improve overall equipment effectiveness for our customers by allowing maximum uptime. The intuitive set-up is designed to reduce operator errors, leading to minimum changeover times.”

The D-Series plus range also offers the advantage of a direct interface to the Domino DPX fume extraction system for automatic removal of fumes and particles, thereby ensuring consistent code quality and reduced rejects, as well as providing a clean environment for personnel in the vicinity.
