Can Cleveland Save Its Media?

Wednesday 10. September 2008 - With buyouts replacing bylines as the big topic in newsrooms, four media execs will discuss challenges facing the region's news media at the next meeting of the Cleveland Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists at noon Monday, Sept. 15, at the City Club of Cleveland.

Panelists include: Terry Egger, publisher, CEO of the Plain Dealer; Ed Esposito, vice president-information media at Rubber City Radio Group, parent of WAKR, WONE, WQMX and AkronNewsNow.com; Frank Lewis, editor of Scene, and Richard Osborne, publisher & editor of Ohio Magazine.

Reservations are required by noon Friday, Sept. 12.

The program includes networking over lunch, a question and answer period and ends at 1:30 p.m. The cost is $20 for SPJ members, $25 for non-members and $15 for students. SPJ bills for no-shows.

The City Club of Cleveland is at 850 Euclid Ave., in downtown Cleveland. Paid parking is available in the area.
