Zebra AWARDED COMPLETE WHICh? CONSUMER MAGAZINE PORTFOLIO
Thursday 04. September 2008 - Award winning prepress specialist, Zebra, has won the reprographics contract for the consumer organisation Which?'s entire magazine portfolio, due to its proven ability to deliver a high quality product to very tight deadlines.
Under the contract, which begins with the January 2009 issues, Zebra will manage the repro for flagship monthly title Which?, as well as Which? Gardening, Which? Computing and Which? Holiday. London-based Zebra has managed the prepress for three Which? titles, Which? Money, Which? Car and its Tax Saving Guide supplement, since the beginning of 2007, so to now be entrusted with the complete magazine portfolio vindicates its performance to date.
Which?, Production Manager, Bev Jordan says: “We’ve compressed the production schedules for our titles to give our editorial teams the opportunity to create an even better product. The more time they have to research, check and re-check information and statistics, the more relevant and topical the magazines are. I need my repro partner to be able to guarantee a level of service in line with the reduced production schedules. I know that Zebra will deliver quality and on time – the files leave here at 18.00 and are back by lunchtime the next day.”
The monthly titles Which? and Which? Money have paginations of 84pp and 36pp respectively, Which? Gardening and Which? Computing are 68pp titles, while the quarterly Which? Holiday has a pagination of 60pp. The magazine portfolio comprises in excess of 3,000 pages per year. As well as creating the PDF proofs, Zebra also sends through low-resolution versions of each page, which are loaded onto Which?’s intranet site.
Bev Jordan continues: “The Zebra team is very good from a technical perspective. They have the latest equipment, but are also passionate about colour and what they do. They get it right first time, which means there’s no need for a second proof, saving our production team time. The fact that they create the PDFs for our intranet also adds value, as it saves us having to create them ourselves.”
Zebra, Sales Director, Richard Gambling says: “To have been awarded the entire Which? portfolio is incredibly rewarding. Not just because Which? is a renowned and respected brand, but because we have won it based on our performance. We have worked hard and invested heavily to create the right culture at Zebra to ensure we maintain our commitment to our core values of delivering a professional product to budget and deadline. It’s pleasing to see this investment bear fruit.”
