TOSHIBA SIMPLIFIES NETWORKED DOCUMENT OUTPUT MANAGEMENT

Friday 22. August 2008 - e-BRIDGE Fleet Management System Version 4.0 provides innovative monitoring, management and reporting for Toshiba e-STUDIO Multifunction Peripherals.

Toshiba Tec have introduced a new version of its device management system. e-BRIDGE Fleet Management System (EFMS) Version 4 allows organisations to maximise economical efficiency and increase the availability of their multifunctional periherals (MFP) hence enhancing productivity across the office environment.

The next generation EFMS provides status monitoring of mission critical printing devices and centralised administration of networked multifunction document managers and printers for organisations of any size. Customers in any industry will benefit from enhanced and proactive alerting, improved device management as well as detailed, custom usage reporting capabilities.

“With the new EFMS capabilities users need never see the flashing lights of a device that requires attention or an ‘out of paper’ message again,” said Klaus Manns, Manager Solutions Planning & Promotion at Toshiba Tec. “EFMS is a unique, dedicated and reliable network management tool exclusively for MFPs and printers. IT administrators, operators and managers will value the reduced management time per device, prioritised alerts and cost transparency.”

Installed on a central server within the customer’s network, EFMS works with all network connected e-STUDIO MFPs and to a limited degree with third-party products. The new version features a variety of grouping capabilities to replicate existing structures including an intuitive tree-view user interface to simplify management tasks.

Usage reports now boast more details and can be easily scheduled for automatic distribution via email offering a choice of counter views. By gaining insights into usage volume and associated costs customers are able to lower expenses and increase efficiency. Also, the reports enable the clear cost assignment to respective departments and cost centres.

The improved centralised device administration allows IT staff to remotely synchronise or clone a variety of settings such as address book, copy/scan templates and network settings between connected e-STUDIO devices (e-BRIDGE models).

Detailed technical features of the EFMS Version 4 include:
Device Grouping
• Flexible, parallel grouping enabling the replication of logical or organisational structures
• Automatic location information, device discovery/assignment
• Sub-grouping up to ten levels and easy tree-view navigation
Device Monitoring
• Detailed device and usage status – colour coding of device icons reflects actual status and enables easy identification of devices that need attention – device tree view
• Two-tiered alert mechanism via email and/or pop-up messages
• Custom defined counters (markers/trip meters) generate alerts upon reaching a usage threshold of a specific device function
Device Administration
• Device identification by multiple criteria including user definable fields
• Synchronization and cloning of device setting and allocation of administration rights
• Remote push out of device setting updates to Toshiba MFPs (also on schedule)
Reporting
• Customisable reporting templates (counters, volume, content, covered device groups, timeframe, output formats) including scheduling and export functionalities
• Consolidation of internal department counters enabling cost and usage splits
• Enables automated billing processes through regular device meter reading
