RIVER PUBLISHING AWARDS ZEBRA WITH REPROGRAPHICS CONTRACT FOR THE CO-OPERATIVE MAGAZINE
Wednesday 13. August 2008 - Award-winning London-based prepress specialist, Zebra, has won the reprographics contract for the launch of The Co-operative Magazine, published by River Publishing. The 64pp plus 4pp cover publication, which has a circulation in excess of 500,000, is the customer magazine from the Co-operative Group, the world's largest consumer co-operative.
In his role as Production Director at River Publishing, Nigel Mackay oversees a team of production managers and is responsible for all elements of production, including reprographics, paper, print and distribution. He comments: “Zebra was the natural choice to manage the repro work for The Co-operative Magazine. From experience, we know they excel in the retouching of images, particularly food photography – a dominant theme throughout the Co-operative Magazine. River has worked with Zebra for over six-years now and we have always found them to be highly reliable, achieving exceptionally high standards while working to tight deadlines. For this particular issue, just one week was allowed for the repro work, including author’s corrections.”
Zebra is responsible for the repro on all of The Co-operative Magazine’s editorial pages, managing images and text layout and creating the print ready PDFs. Of its latest contract win from River Publishing, Daniel Simpson, Sales Director, Zebra says: “Zebra is delighted to extend its relationship with River Publishing to include another top retail brand. High quality print is an extremely effective way for a brand to communicate with its public and differentiate itself from the rest of the market place. Effective colour management and attention to detail in the retouching of images is critical in helping to achieve the outstanding results that top brands, like The Co-operative Group, require.”
The launch issue of The Co-operative Magazine was published in June and mailed out to the Co-operative Group’s 500,000 UK members. It is simultaneously being trialled in store, with a cover price of 75p. The magazine is a glossy A4 publication and covers all aspects of the co-operative businesses from its food stores and pharmacies to its banking and legal services.
