The Ellis Group and Shoplogix(TM) Partner to Maximize Efficiencies in Production
Wednesday 16. July 2008 - The Real-time Impact on Manufacturing Performance
Shoplogix, a leading developer of real-time performance management (RPM) solutions, today announced that The Ellis Group, a premier provider of paperboard packaging, has selected Shoplogix’s RPM solution Plantnode(R) to optimize manufacturing performance with real-time production monitoring, enhanced data management and analysis capabilities.
Ellis Packaging West President, John Clarke expressed, “Formerly we relied on data that was collected manually — it was a painstaking effort. Despite the time put into it, we often questioned its accuracy because there were discrepancies between our written reports versus what we knew to be true. Shoplogix Plantnode automated the collection of production data to give us factual real-time information and increased visibility into our manufacturing process. We now have accurate and meaningful reports which have given us greater control over of our day-to-day performance.”
Within three months of installation, The Ellis Group decreased production variability, reduced idle time and increased average run speed on the finishing lines. The company was also able to increase equipment availability to improve total throughput.
According to Plant Manager, Scott Dostal, “Since we installed Shoplogix Plantnode we’ve gained visibility into every job as it cycles through each department and we know exactly how well we are doing against our standards. The ability to measure real-time performance on our presses, die cutters and finishing equipment at the same time allows us to identify potential bottlenecks and take immediate action so we don’t miss our targets.”
We purchased the Shoplogix solution because we stood to gain substantial performance improvements in a short time without causing any disruption to our daily operation. Combined with the ease of installation, there was very little risk involved,” said Mr. Dostal.
Shoplogix President and CEO, Martin Ambrose stated, “We are very excited to have The Ellis Group as a partner and plan to continue working closely with customers like Ellis in order to enhance the productivity and performance of manufacturers globally. Our rapid and effective deployment of performance management solutions has helped manufacturers increase their ability to compete in a highly aggressive market. We have earned the confidence of our stakeholders and valued customers through our commitment to their success and we will continue to develop these relationships as we expand our footprint in the printing and packaging industry.”
