EFI (NASDAQ: EFII), the world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, today launched EFI SendMe version 4.0, its flagship product for digital document capture, edit, and distribution. SendMe is an ideal solution for corporate enterprises such as financial services, insurance, healthcare, higher education and legal services. It has achieved annual double-digit unit growth since its introduction in 2003 and has quickly established itself as the market leader.

“SendMe converts paper into documents that users can edit in seconds, fulfilling the huge need in the marketplace for an easy to use and reliable scan workflow,” said John Henze, vice president of marketing, Fiery division, EFI. “The just released version 4.0 has greater connectivity with third-party solution providers with over 80 connectors developed and supported by EFI, and offers the first ‘scan to Microsoft Excel’ capability that lets users scan tables directly into an Excel file. These enhancements will provide users with increased efficiency and productivity, further positioning SendMe as the solution of choice in high-volume office environments.”

The first solution to offer “Scan to Microsoft Word” last year, EFI SendMe now offers “Scan to Microsoft Excel,” capturing tables and financial data with page layout retention.

SendMe integrates industry-leading technologies in scanning, workflow, and optical character recognition (OCR) using OmniPage 15 from Nuance Communications, Inc. EFI Desktop Pro 2.0 is bundled with every SendMe and provides professional-level desktop document management and conversion. EFI Desktop Pro 2.0 leverages the power of the award-winning Nuance PaperPort Pro and OmniPage applications to deliver desktop scanning, document management, and character recognition technology.

With this version, the solution has nearly 80 connectivity modules, developed and fully supported by EFI, to enable interoperability with top third-party document management, cost recovery, and fax-imaging software packages. For organizations that need a custom workflow, SendMe’s NetConnect ODBC delivers meta-data retrieval and output, and maps the database directly to SendMe data entry screens, significantly streamlining the workflow for users.

EFI SendMe is also available from IKON Office Solutions, Inc., branded as IKON DocSend.
