Yell and Pindar plan business transfer

Wednesday 09. July 2008 - Pindar announced the intention to transfer Pindar Set Ltd, to Yell, the international directories business.

Pindar Set, comprising 1600 people, has been responsible for transforming the business of producing directories for Yell in the UK for over 28 years and more recently in Europe, US and India on behalf of the Yell Group.

The agreement announced today reflects the strong relationship that Pindar and Yell have.

‘This is an exciting development for both Pindar and Yell and supports Yell further in the cementing of its relationship with its advertisers. After a successful 28 years we are proud of our relationship and how it has developed and we look forward to continuing to deliver excellent service to Yell in other ways through our Pindar Graphics operation,’ said Andrew Pindar, Chairman of Pindar Group.

John Condron, Chief Executive of the Yell Group, said: ‘Our close working relationship with Pindar is unique in our industry. The integration of Pindar Set within the Yell Group is the right decision for both parties, and will further enhance our working effectiveness, decision making and the quality of service we offer to advertisers. Directory production operations for Yell will remain headquartered in Scarborough, and there are no planned changes to other operations in Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester and Edinburgh or overseas. There are no planned redundancies.

Pindar Graphics and AlphaGraphics businesses around the world are unaffected.
