CTP - Computer to Plate

Kodak Sells its First CTP System in West Africa to Newspaper Publisher in Ghana

Wednesday 11. June 2008 - Graphic Communications Group in Accra, Ghana, placed an order for a KODAK TRENDSETTER 800 III Platesetter, the recently introduced KODAK ELECTRA XD Thermal Plate, KODAK PRINERGY POWERPACK Workflow System, and KODAK MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing System.

The sale of the prepress bundle closed at drupa marks the first computer to plate (CTP) installation in West Africa for Kodak. The sale was administered through FC Exports, sales agent for Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group in West Africa.
Graphic Communications Group publishes the national newspaper, Daily Graphic. The company also has expanded into commercial and package printing.
“We based our purchase decision on the speed, quality and consistency offered by the CTP system from Kodak,” said John Tagoe, Procurement Manager, Graphic Communications Group. “With these new solutions from Kodak, we expect to grow our business in each of the three market segments that we serve.”
The TRENDSETTER 800 III Platesetter offers a throughput of 40 plates per hour and provides reliable, cost effective functionality with the flexibility to meet production and business needs both now and in the future.
Launched at drupa 2008, the ELECTRA XD Thermal Plate is a non ablative, no preheat, positive working digital plate. The ELECTRA XD Thermal Plate exhibits impressive prepress and on press stability for excellent resolution, run length, and color control throughout the full press run. With typically triple the unbaked run length of the KODAK ELECTRA HR Plates, the highly durable ELECTRA XD Plate also helps printers reduce overall plate consumption and energy usage while maintaining consistency, stability, and print quality.
The PRINERGY POWERPACK Workflow System is a packaging specific version of the popular PRINERGY EVO Workflow System for printers and converters looking to add an economical PDF based workflow system to their shop.
The MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing System supports EPSON Printers and includes KODAK Proofing Software and KODAK MATCHPRINT Inkjet Media to meet industry specifications including GRACoL, FOGRA and SWOP. Graphic Communications Group utilizes the MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing System with its EPSON STYLUS Pro 9880 Printer.
