Sunday 08. June 2008 - drupa 2008 has so far been bathed in a yellow glow, and not just because of the bright sunshine. The buzz around Kodak is tangible, with visitors flocking to stand D01 in hall 5 to see the first drupa appearance of Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group (GCG), and the broad range of integrated solutions on show.

“Print is Powerful, and drupa proves it”, says Kevin Joyce, Chief Marketing Officer, GCG, Vice President, Kodak. “The show is a global meeting place for the brightest and best in print, and our booth is crowded with visitors from every continent. We’re particularly happy to be engaging so many printers from China and India, both markets critical to future success. Demonstrations are booking early, we are taking substantial orders right across the product portfolio, and our Stream Concept Press unveiled here in Düsseldorf is a major focal point, demonstrating that Kodak leads the way in inkjet innovation with breakthrough Continuous Inkjet Technology.”
Also capturing attention in the inkjet arena is the new KODAK VERSAMARK VL2000 System, which utilizes Drop On Demand print technology for direct mail applications. Visitors are also excited by two new Kodak plate technologies that deliver exceptional levels of stability, quality and productivity: the KODAK ELECTRA XD Thermal Printing Plate for offset printing and the new KODAK FLEXCEL NX Flexographic Printing System which provides gravure quality.
Process automation is a dominant theme at the show, and Kodak’s Unified Workflow Solutions have attracted particular attention. In addition to the newest KODAK PRINERGY Workflow System Version 5.0, highlights are the KODAK INSITE Campaign Manager, which allows printers to deliver value-added marketing services to their customers, and the KODAK COLORFLOW Software, which aligns color across devices, enabling total color relationship management.
The Kodak brand catches the eye around the show, with Kodak products on partner booths in more than two thirds of the halls. All around the fairground, visitors are sporting Kodak’s yellow bags, and Euro 2008 soccer fever has reached the Kodak booth, with spirited competition for Kodak’s branded footballs.
“Technology always gets the attention at drupa, and Kodak’s range of solutions for offset class output are stealing the show” adds Joyce. “Customers want reliability, productivity, substrate variety, the right cost of operation and quality. Kodak delivers on all five, with solutions in litho, inkjet, electrophotographic and flexo.”
