The Wetzel Processing Group at drupa 2008

Sunday 08. June 2008 - The Wetzel Processing Group is a pioneer in the pre-press area: The company has the most modern engraved cylinder manufacturing facility in the world. Manufacturing steps and all interface processes are continuously optimised, with the main focus on a high level of standardisation and efficient processes.

The Wetzel Processing Group can therefore flexibly react to specific market demands and individual customer requirements. With an annual capacity of more than 40,000 engraved cylinders, Wetzel is a market leader in the industry.

LEXUS: Globally unique method of direct laser engraving in copper
At drupa 2008 (Düsseldorf, 29th May to 11th June) Wetzel presented a globally unique method of direct laser engraving: The surface of engraved cylinders is structured using state-of-the-art lasers using the LEXUS process, which makes it possible to carry out high-resolution direct engraving in copper. As well as the two well-tried manufacturing processes for engraved cylinders, electro-mechanical engraving and laser engraving with autotypical etching, the LEXUS process has already been successfully used in the batch printing area. Furthermore, LEXUS also opens up innovative application options for the embossing industry, e.g. for napped leather engraving in the automotive sector. From a global point of view, Wetzel has the biggest concentration of laser direct engraving technology at one site.

New standards in the manufacture of Flexodruck sleeves
Wetzel also sets new quality standards in the manufacture of Flexodruck moulds. High-resolution multi-beam engraving technology improves detail reproduction in the raster and graticule area of picture and letter printing. New elastomers with excellent engraving characteristics provide better colour transfer and less abrasion. Longer holding times significantly reduce the wear of the sleeves.

Comprehensive portfolio
The manufacture of industrial engraving in the embossing mould manufacturing area completes the portfolio of the Wetzel Processing Group. As well as laser-engraved microstructures for foil application, the company covers the entire area of embossing application for the tissue and hygiene sector.

Visit us from 29th May to 11th June at drupa, Hall 03, Stand F 14. We are looking forward to seeing you!
