Paperboard Skeletal Frame Shredder

Friday 16. May 2008 - Kongskilde’s pneumatic conveying systems are efficient for the conveying of off-cuts and other process waste in the plastic and paper industries. Furthermore, the conveying systems are easy to install and economical to run and maintain. Until now the use of the systems has been limited to the conveying of materials up to approx. 400 g/m2.

Now Kongskilde introduces a shredder that cuts thick paperboard down into sizes below 75 x 75 mm. These dimensions can be conveyed in Kongskilde’s normal conveying systems typically with a pipe diameter of 160 mm. This means that paperboard skeletons from die cutters and paperboard waste in the packing industry can be removed from the production area in a simple, efficient and economical way.

The conveying in the rather modest pipe diameter only requires limited volume of air. Often conditioned air from the production area is used as conveying air, and therefore the technique is very energy efficient for both the air conditioning and waste conveying.

The paperboard waste shredder from Kongskilde is for paperboard frames with a width up to 1600 mm and with a thickness of up to 2000 g/m2. The machine is able to shred up to 12000 sheets per hour. This means that the capacity is large enough to treat the waste from even the fastest die cutters in the industry.

Rotating knives cutting against fixed knives do the shredding. The cutting of the material is done both lengthways and crossways. After shredding the waste pieces are vacuumed away by Kongskilde’s well-known pneumatic conveying systems.

Along with the new paperboard frame cutter Kongskilde can supply complete systems for the removal of waste in the packaging industry and can also deal with thicker materials.
