This year’s event will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia from Sunday, May 11th through Friday, May 16th.

The annual Ricoh Sustainable Development Award provides scholarships to high school students whose projects contain technological and scientific innovations that best reflect the principles of sustainability by balancing economic development with environmental responsibility. The competition is designed to foster dialogue and awareness of sustainable development by reinforcing the importance of pairing innovation with social responsibility.

Ricoh will be awarding two $25,000 scholarships to students that exhibit the most outstanding projects that promote sustainable business practices. A team of judges, comprised of engineers, scientists, business professionals and educators, will review entries among all the general award categories to determine the winner of the Ricoh Sustainable Development Award.

“For decades, Ricoh has been a leader in creating green technologies and products to help businesses operate efficiently with the greater good of our earth in mind,” said Kirk Yoshida, chairman & CEO, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “We’re proud to sponsor the Ricoh Sustainable Development Award at Intel’s ISEF and hope to encourage the young minds of today to develop solutions that will benefit the environment tomorrow.”

The Intel ISEF 2008 is the world’s largest annual celebration of science for high school students, bringing together nearly 1,500 students from over 40 nations. Students compete for over $4 million in scholarships and other awards including internships and grants for scientific field trips. Since its inception in 1950, the International Science and Engineering Fair has been administered by Society for Science & the Public, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the understanding and appreciation of science around the globe.
