Packaging

Razor-sharp competitive edge

Monday 05. May 2008 - ALFRED GIESSER MESSERFABRIK produces innovative cutting implementations for the packaging sector

Quality needs competence: No innovations in the packaging sector without innovative packaging machines. For the end-user it is often not even noticeable, however, nowadays bags, tubes, cups and cartons for dairy products, confectionery, instant products and much more are produced with great technical complexity.

In most cases, high quality cutting implementations from GIESSER GERMANY take part in the manufacturing process. For many decades now, the company, based in Swabian Winnenden, has convinced its customers with problem-oriented solutions across all sector-borders. The production of high quality circular knives and machinery blades for individual cutting needs in the industrial sector is traditionally looked upon as the core competence of the company. The target: The optimization of the durability of the machines and thus the increased effectiveness and profitability in the production process for the customers. The result: An increased profit as a result of an increased output in the manufacturing process. Some of the GIESSER customers are leading companies in the following sectors: Food processing, rubber, plastics, glass, textile, paper and tobacco. For many years GIESSER GERMANY has been successfully producing end cutters, perforating blades, folding knives, die cutters and transverse cutters for a variety of usages (e.g. for vacuum or flow-wrapping-machines) for renowned companies such as Multivac, Illig, CFS or Bosch. GIESSER GERMANY is able to realize new packaging ideas quickly and cost effectively with its know-how. The company has also earned itself a very good reputation across the borders with the construction of complex cutting apparatus.

In the packaging sector the cutters and blades of the GIESSER company are used in the food sector (e.g. flour, sugar, cheese or sausage), in the confectionery segment (e.g. chocolate bars or jelly-babies), for dairy products e.g. milk or yoghurt) or more and more also in the pharmaceutical sector (e.g. blister packaging).

The GIESSER company distinguishes itself through a high degree of problem-solution competence combined with long-time experience and perfected know-how. Through conversations with customers the target is defined. Subsequently, problem oriented solutions will be developed. The size of the company, the extensive machinery with its vertical range of manufacture, as well as the high-precision work with one thousandth of a milimeter are the guarantors for the fast development of high-performance solution proposals. When required, GIESSER will develop new alloys, for example to improve the corrosion behavior and at the same time have an improvement in running-time. Or they will develop new production machines, which will give the cutters and blades the exact properties requested by the customer.

“The products of the GIESSER often play a significant role regarding innovations in the field of packaging design”, explains the CEO, Ulrich Giesser. “The development and production of our – at present – 6,000 active articles always occur individually and in close consultation with the customer. However, all cutters and blades of the GIESSER company have something in common: Their longevity and high quality are owed to innovative alloys, long standing know-how and last but not least the razor-sharp expertise of our 60 co-workers.”
