Defining new target groups: Displays for new challenges

Additional benefits for the consumer: Wallpapers are already capable of demonstrating their effects at the P.O.S. The display presents design, material and charm quite clearly and over a large area, and permits the taking-away of samples.

Friday 02. May 2008 - Many brand-product manufacturers have for a long time seen demographic change in western civilization as an opportunity accompanying the development process of new products. The inherent challenge is to redefine target groups and confront the demand which emerges.

This development also has effects on the presentation of brands and their packaging. In the InnovationParc Packaging at interpack 2008, the Panther Group wishes to provide new stimulus to the discussion on how changes in the market can be successfully dealt with: with the aid of secondary placement systems, brand-product manufacturers can target the requirements of specific consumer groups. Producers of packaging, displays and sales promotion elements for various P.O.S. situations are guided by the concept that beneficial solutions for one consumer group are also positively received by larger consumer groups. For example, thanks to their often large-area method of construction, displays are suitable for communicating information on products and their use or mode of operation in particularly striking fashion. Special designs of secondary placement elements permit the addition of product-specific information (for example article information on concertina folders or similar) for the benefit of the consumer.

Colour designs and font sizes in printed images will in future give more attention to the needs of older people. However, this trend is to be effected in an integrating way. The goal is not to fragment the range of products with a view to the differing requirements of older or less healthy people, but to create consumer-product solutions which are perceived as pleasant and appealing by all consumers. The “Point of Sale” theme island at InnovationParc Packaging provides an ideal framework for an exchange of information and ideas with experts from the Panther Group by focussing on these future-market parameters. With the live presentation of “Sensual sensations” on its stand, the Panther Group will be showing displays fitted with important supplementary functions as examples of possibilities which are ready for market practice.
