Lexmark to help plant trees with Arbor Day Foundation donation
Thursday 17. April 2008 - Lexmark International, Inc. (NYSE:LXK) will help support U.S. reforestation efforts through a donation to the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of Earth Day, which is Tuesday, April 22.
For every laser printer and laser multifunction product (MFP) sold in the U.S. during the month of April through an authorized Lexmark reseller or on Lexmark.com, the Arbor Day Foundation will plant one tree in a U.S. national forest.
Also in honor of Earth Day, the Arbor Day Foundation will plant a tree for designated Lexmark X6570 and X6575 Wireless All-in-Ones sold in the U.S. at the following retail outlets:
— Lexmark X6570s sold at Wal-Mart; see specially marked boxes for details
— Lexmark X6570s sold on Home Shopping Network (HSN) on April 11
— Lexmark X6570s and X6575s sold on Lexmark.com during April
“At Lexmark, environmental responsibility is a top priority – from the way we design our products to our operations to the way we live and work,” said Marty Canning, Lexmark vice president and president of its Printing Solutions and Services Division. “We are pleased to commemorate Earth Day by supporting the Arbor Day Foundation’s efforts to protect the environment through this donation.”
Many of Lexmark’s laser printers and laser MFPs include environmentally conscious features, such as:
— Standard two-sided printing, which can reduce the amount of paper usage
by half
— Eco-Mode to optimize energy efficiency
— ENERGY STAR(R) qualification, which means the products meet strict
energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency and U.S. Department of Energy
— High-yield cartridges for longer lasting printing, which means fewer
cartridges end up in landfills than when using standard-yield
cartridges
The Lexmark X6500 series is ENERGY STAR qualified and also includes standard two-sided printing, offers high-yield cartridges and an energy-saving “sleep mode” to conserve energy when the product is not in use.
In addition, Lexmark offers a Laser Cartridge Collection Program to encourage customers to recycle laser toner cartridges as well as the Lexmark Rewards program, in which customers can earn free ink cartridges for returning used cartridges for recycling. The Lexmark Equipment Collection Program also makes it easy for customers to recycle their old Lexmark printers.
