Canon Europe, world leader in imaging technology, today announced that it has achieved an impressive 40% sales growth in the Large Format Printer (LFP) market during 2007, thanks to an unprecedented 11 products launched during this period. Canon’s ongoing commitment to the LFP sector has seen its market share treble in the last three years to approximately 13% for 2007, with Canon Europe predicting further significant growth in 2008 and beyond.

Anne Sharp, European Marketing Manager, Large Format Print, Canon Europe said: “Canon is always striving for further innovations in its product technology that can bring enhanced quality and productivity to its customers, whilst delivering a true return on investment. Whether it’s a photographer or a commercial printer, every customer should have value for money. Not only that, but Canon has continuously invested in its large format solutions over the last few years which has led to an increase in market share.”

To further aid and support growth, Canon Europe now has the added strength of a new team for Large Format Solutions at its European strategy centre in the UK. The team will manage strategic marketing which is aimed at delivering the right products and solutions required by the market in order to further strengthen and grow Canon’s position in the large format printing arena, and bring true value to customers.

The new strategic marketing team will be headed-up by Anne Sharp. Having joined Canon UK in January 2005 as Product Marketing Manager, LFP, UK and Ireland, Anne has over 12 years experience in the print industry and has previously worked for IBM, Agfa, FujiFilm Electronic Imaging and Printronix.

Sharp has also appointed James Casey and Martin van Golen to the strategic marketing team to help support growth and increase LFP market share across Europe.

Previously at Hitachi Europe, Casey joins Canon Europe as European Product Marketing Professional, where he will be responsible for General Use and CAD products. His new role will see him developing and implementing product marketing strategies, including all aspects of positioning and messaging.

Martin van Golen brings 11 years of graphic arts experience to his role as European Marketing Product Manager for LFP Media, where he is responsible for Canon’s Graphic Art range of products and profitable strategy for growth in media sales. He previously worked as European Sales and Marketing Manager for InteliCoat Technologies, a US based inkjet media manufacturer.

These new appointments will ensure Canon continues to grow and maintain a strong position in the Professional Print industry in 2008 and beyond.

Continued Sharp: “Last year we drove the LFP sector forward with the launch of 10 new printers and a new software solution, PosterArtist. This is a record for Canon. We will continue to invest in our portfolio, which will grow even further over 2008. The LFP market is rapidly expanding and having access to the latest large format solutions is something that our customers demand. We will continue to offer leading technology to support our customer’s growth plans and help encourage the growth of the large format printing market as a whole.”
