Canon Europe, world leader in digital imaging technology, has today announced the launch of the new imagePROGRAF iPF720 (A0 – 36″), a large format printer (LFP) which boasts an 80GB hard disk drive. Created for the CAD (Computer Aided Design) and GIS (Geographical Information Systems) corporate users that have requirements for multiple users of the printer, the imagePROGRAF iPF720 has a built-in hard disk drive to enable faster throughput of printed jobs, optimising between-page processing to enhance productivity in consecutive printing. The new device is among the fastest in its class for these markets.
The Canon imagePROGRAF iPF720 offers an 80GB hard disk drive, enabling customers to use the additional capacity as an extra tool to manage their printing, as well as additional benefits, such as being able to create print mailboxes and store jobs for quick and easy access at the printer of those jobs for reprints. It also enables print job queue management for priority printing and desktop management of ink and media levels.
The imagePROGRAF iPF720 can produce an A0-sized output in only 56 seconds. The machine has HP-GL/2 and HP RTL compatibility, as well as an HDI driver for windows, which means that it is compatible with leading applications used by GIS and CAD professionals.
Anne Sharp, European Marketing Manager Large Format Print, Canon Europe says: “The launch of the new imagePROGRAF iPF720 means that we can further increase market share in the CAD and GIS markets. We now have a product that is not only one of the fastest in its class, but also boasts the additional benefit of a built-in hard disk drive.
Customers can now rely on the imagePROGRAF iPF720 as a storage device or even manage their print processes through it. All this in addition to its compatibility with industry standards and a range of features creating image quality that is second to none.”
In line with the companys heritage of high image quality, the imagePROGRAF iPF720 has Canons FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) high-precision printhead technology, along with Canons five-colour dye-and-pigment ink system for optimal results in your business. Capable of creating ink droplets as small as four picolitres in size and with more than 15,000 nozzles, the Canon printhead ensures accuracy and image sharpness, and delivers a resolution of 1,200 dpi, allowing users to reproduce fine lines and small characters without distortion. The five-colour reactive ink system enhances the quality of prints by ensuring that there is less bleeding and solid image consistency, therefore delivering output that retains more accuracy and sharpness – however detailed.
The new LFP also incorporates Canons high-speed LCOA image processor, which enables faster and more accurate image processing. The new device has a large LCD panel for ease-of-use.
The imagePROGRAF iPF720 will be available across Europe from April 2008.
