Friday 04. April 2008 - GBC Commercial Laminating Solutions Group, part of Acco Brands Corporation (NYSE: ABD - news) and world market leader in print finishing equipment and consumables, announces its presence at the London Book Fair, that will take place in Earls Court, London from 14-16 April 2008. During this global trend-setting forum for booksellers, publishers, graphic designers, production and marketing managers, the company will demonstrate its newest eco-friendly laminating and film finishing solutions.

GBC offers high-quality and reliable film solutions

The GBC’s Scuff-Freetm film offers a unique combination of polypropylene and an abrasion-resistant coating that is specifically designed to keep book covers and other printed material looking beautiful. Its matt finish minimizes glare while preserving image color and provides a durable, scratch-resistant surface for protecting book covers, brochures and packaging applications. With its UV spot coating, the Scuff-Free film creates greater visual impact and the matt finish creates a luxurious appearance that attracts the buyer’s attention and increases the perceived value of the product.

With its luxurious finishes, the GBC Digital LAY-FLAT film is the ideal digital on-demand laminating solution providing superior adhesion and flat output for electro-photographic lamination prints. Its allows for immediate lamination after printing and is therefore ideally suited for high-volume print shops requiring fast turnaround times to meet customers’ demands. This adhesive film also avoids making additional prints to soak up the excess of accumulated fuser oil. After years of testing, GBC developed an improved adhesive technology and process that have resulted, in comparison to its closest competitors, in a 10% greater bond strength. Extensive testing has been carried out on fresh prints including CMYK black, and at various lamination speeds and temperatures on both entry-level and high-speed laminators.

With its guaranteed anti-curl technology, the patented GBC LAY-FLAT film, available in both clear and matt finishes creates a premium look, while punching up colors and ensuring durability.

During the London event, GBC will also demonstrate its “green” film solutions for overlamination applications. The company has always taken environmental issues very seriously and has often emphasized the importance of developing new eco-friendly laminating solutions to avoid unnecessary wastage. This is the reason why a lot of R&D resources have been invested in this area. GBC’s green overlaminating film is one of the first products of its kind in the world.

Arnout Jansen, Marketing Director GBC Commercial Laminating Solutions is looking forward to participating at the London Book Fair and reflects on the importance of lamination for the commercial, on-demand and wide format printing markets: “As an innovative company, GBC has always helped customers find the right kind of finishing for their printed materials by enhancing the value of their ideas and communication. The event in London gives us the perfect opportunity to show what GBC’s laminating and film finishing solutions can do to improve productivity, optimize product quality and help the customer distinguish himself from the competition. As lamination continues to enhance the print value by adding a glossier or matter, non-reflective finish to the product as well as offering a higher level of protection, GBC expects solid growth potential in this market segment. “
