DSPA to re-launch at Sign & Digital UK 2008

John Keith, DSPA business manager

Friday 14. March 2008 - The DSPA, the UK trade association for print specialists and manufacturers, will be re-launching at the UK's leading visual communications event, Sign & Digital UK. Visit stand AA40 at the Birmingham NEC and discover how this long-standing association plans to move forward in its aim to support and enhance the UK printing industry.

“Sign & Digital UK is attended each year by hundreds of printing professionals and suppliers looking for the latest sign solutions and innovative products to improve their business,” explains Peter Kiddell, DSPA president. “We could think of no place better suited to announce the DSPA’s new identity and services to the industry.”

Come along to the Sign & Digital UK Seminar Theatre at 10.15am on the first day of the show (22nd April) when the DSPA will be revealing its new name, new logo and new business initiatives which reflect the needs of imaging specialists in today’s ever-changing market.

Newly appointed DSPA business manager, John Keith, comments, “The market is constantly changing and creating new challenges, and as the common voice for the UK printing industry, it is our job to continually adapt our services and develop the organisation’s offering as our members’ requirements change.

“By implementing our new goals, we aim to better support the competitiveness, profitability and productiveness of print specialists and manufacturers across the UK. We will continue to offer the same invaluable services, advice and educational support as we have done for the last seventy years. However, the new-look association will be building upon these existing resources and introducing additional services to further assist its members on the road to a successful business.”

Both John Keith and Peter Kiddell will be at the re-launch event, and on the stand during the course of the show, to answer questions from existing and potential members.

“Coming to the show will provide the perfect opportunity to gain a valuable insight into the vast array of services and resources available through our association,” continues Peter. “We are aware of the issues printers and suppliers face in this competitive marketplace and welcome the chance to advise industry professionals on how their business can overcome these problems.”

To show its support for the industry, the association will also be hosting two seminars at Sign & Digital UK; these free seminars are open to members and non-members alike. On the 23rd April, John Keith explains how printers can increase profit margins by implementing simple yet effective processes and incorporating value-added services.

“With companies tackling increasing cost pressures as raw material prices escalate, the threat from competition in the Far East grows and labour costs decrease in Eastern Europe, UK printers need to know how to work smarter. On the 23rd April, find out how your business can operate at peak efficiency and implement key, value-added services that will keep you ahead of the competition,” explains John Keith.

On the 24th April, industry expert, Sophie Matthews-Paul will host the second DSPA seminar at the show. During this seminar, Sophie will unravel what lies within the different wide format inkjet technologies on the market, and how the DSPA’s growing involvement in the inkjet sector is vital to the growth of this market in the UK. She will also provide an overview of where wide format inkjet production stands today, some of the concerns affecting the industry and what we can expect in the future.

John Keith concludes, “The association should offer its members something more than member companies can provide for themselves in order for them to make faster progress. This has always been the association’s aim but we are confident that the new organisation being unveiled at Sign & Digital UK will be fully-equipped to better meet the needs of a changing industry.”
