Heidelberg unveils the Dymatrix 106 Pro CSB die-cutter for even greater productivity and flexibility

The Dymatrix 106 Pro CSB die-cutter is being exhibited at drupa 2008 with a whole range of new developments. These include the optional automatic DySet feed system, the new belt table, and new feeder. These innovations cut the number of jams in the feeder by 70 percent and increase net output.

Monday 10. March 2008 - • Automatic DySet feed system makes jams a rarity • New belt table and optimized feeder separate sheets reliably and allow a whole range of materials to be processed without the need for changeovers • Upgradeable to the Dymatrix 113 Pro CSB with larger sheet format

At drupa 2008, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will be presenting the Dymatrix 106 Pro CSB (cutting, stripping, and blanking) die-cutter, which is equipped with a whole new set of features compared to the Dymatrix 106 CSB. These include the optional automatic feed system DySet, which aligns the sheets precisely prior to transfer to the gripper. It is now also possible to align the sheet laterally with reference to the printing marks or print image, which is crucial when processing reel stock. The new belt table and feeder make for reliable sheet separation and guidance. Thanks to these innovations, jams in the feeder are now a rarity and net output has been increased.

The maximum sheet format of the Dymatrix 106 Pro CSB – 76 x 106 cm (29.92 x 41.73 in) – is perfectly matched to the format of the Speedmaster XL 105. The broad range of materials that can be processed takes in everything from paper of 80 gsm and above, card up to 2,000 gsm, and corrugated board up to a thickness of 4 mm (0.16 in).

At a processing speed of up to 9,000 sheets per hour and a cutting force of 330 tons, the Dymatrix 106 Pro CSB is the ideal choice for folding carton manufacturers and postpress specialists. The outstanding material flexibility of the Dymatrix 106 Pro CSB enables it to process folding cartons made from board or corrugated board, as well as labels and beer coasters. Folding cartons are used to package products such as cigarettes, candy, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, food, and non-food goods. What’s more, the folding carton blanks are of exceptionally high quality. This quality is ensured by the moving upper platen and the patented register system, which delivers a register accuracy of up to plus/minus 0.1 mm (0.0039 in).

The pallets and pallet heights of the Dymatrix 106 Pro CSB can be adjusted to match the press, thereby allowing non-stop operation of the press and die-cutter using a logistics system with pallets. The die-cutter can be seamlessly integrated into the printshop process via the Prinect workflow.
The Dymatrix 106 Pro CSB can be upgraded to a Dymatrix 113 Pro CSB with a sheet format of 82 x 113 cm (32.28 x 44.49 in) if required. The innovations and technical features of the two machines are identical. The die-cutter can also be integrated seamlessly into the Prinect workflow,

Getting quickly up to speed – accurately and reliably
The new DySet feed system also processes extremely disorderly pallet piles by ensuring that sheets are fed in accurately – even at high production speeds. The core element of DySet is an optical sheet sensor. When a pallet pile reaches the feeder and the sheets are separated on the belt table, the front lays in the machine register their alignment. The optical sensor then measures the lateral edges of the sheets, a printing mark, or the print image itself and corrects the lateral position of each sheet where necessary, before it is transferred to the gripper assembly. This then transports the sheets downstream. This process reduces the number of jams by up to 70 percent. Alongside improved productivity, folding carton printshops also benefit from greater register accuracy, which enables them to die-cut even complex layouts with absolute reliability.

Besides alignment, sheet separation and guidance has also been simplified and made more reliable. The new belt table and feeder of the Dymatrix 106 Pro CSB – with two broader belts, a redesigned suction head, and an improved sheet flap angle – are responsible for this enhanced performance.
Companies that use die-cutters from various manufacturers now have greater flexibility when planning jobs, as job-specific die-cutting tools of other makes can also be used on the Dymatrix 106 Pro CSB. There is no need to purchase new die-cutting tools.
The lower cutting plate can be aligned precisely to the upper die-cutting tool by carrying out fine adjustments via the user-friendly touchscreen. This cuts makeready times for new jobs considerably.
The optimized sheet brake automatically cleans itself during production and ensures blanks are deposited efficiently.
