Océ Speakers to Share Ideas on Taking Business Beyond the Ordinary at ON DEMAND and Xplor Sessions

Thursday 06. March 2008 - Océ demonstrates how to take business beyond the ordinary at the ON DEMAND Conference and Exposition and the Xplor Document University co-located with ON DEMAND. Océ experts take to the stage in various panels and sessions to help attendees expand their knowledge and take their businesses beyond the ordinary.

Mal Baboyian, President, Océ North America, Production Printing Systems, joins other top executives in an important keynote panel on Emerging Technologies and What to Expect in 2008. Since 2003, Mr. Baboyian has been President of Océ North America, Inc., Production Printing Systems. His responsibilities include strategic direction and managerial excellence to ensure continuing growth for Océ in production and commercial print markets. Mr. Baboyian will share his seasoned insights on what’s ahead for the industry and discuss Océ plans and their impact on the on-demand community. This enlightening session is scheduled for Wednesday March 5, 2008 from 10:10-11:10 AM.

Guy Broadhurst, Vice President of Product Marketing, Océ North America, Production Printing Systems, joins an informative session on Technology Developments in Black & White Digital Printing Systems on Tuesday, March 4 from 11:30 AM to 12:20 PM. Mr. Broadhurst has worked in printing systems technology for over 25 years and helped pioneer Océ’s Print On Demand initiative. With his strong background in digital printing, Mr. Broadhurst is extremely qualified to help ON DEMAND attendees learn more about the business potential of monochrome digital printing. Drawing on his experience with high-speed, cut-sheet and roll-fed technology, he’ll contribute to discussions about how advancements in speed, productivity and quality improvements are creating new opportunities in commercial print, publishing and transactional applications.

Duncan Newton, PhD, Business Development Manager for Océ, joins an expert panel in a look at High-Volume Print Engines for the Transpromotional Market. On Tuesday, March 4 from 9:40 AM to 10:30 AM, Newton and other industry experts give attendees a deeper understanding of how print engine technology and front-end systems are adapting to accommodate production of transpromo applications. The transformation of transactional documents into marketing vehicles has been part of his focus for many years, and he’ll talk about new Océ high-speed inkjet and continuous feed solutions, which provide the productivity and color quality for transpromo applications. Mr. Newton has an extensive background in electronic and digital publishing stretching back to the early days of desktop publishing. In his current role, he focuses on graphic arts applications and brings industry knowledge and technical expertise from an insider’s perspective. In addition, Mr. Newton is participating in the Production Color Print Survey Panel on Wednesday, March 5 at Xplor at 10:00. The session will give attendees a high-level overview of options for moving to full-color production printing and the key decision criteria they will face.

Océ Software Marketing Manager Buddy Mountcastle joins industry panelists for The Technology…The Tools on Wednesday, March 5 from 1:30 PM – 2:20 PM. This session will emphasize the technologies available in today’s market to address the transpromo opportunity. Easy-to-use software tools like Océ PRISMA adaptive workflow software open the world of multi-channel communications, so information can be delivered in print or electronic formats. Mr. Mountcastle has over fifteen years’ experience working with software to drive digital workflow. His particular expertise includes software design, workflow management, and business process management. He has extensive experience with EDI, SAP, Oracle, network, mainframe and other systems that document professionals encounter every day.

In addition to these ON DEMAND sessions, Océ is an Elite Sponsor of the 2008 Xplor Document University Global Conference and Exhibition, co-located with the ON DEMAND Conference and Exposition at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. On Wednesday, March 5 from 3 to 4 PM in Room 109B, Jim Pillar, Océ Software Support Manager in Poing, Germany, is the sole presenter as one of “the Masters of AFP” on the topic of Advanced Function Printing (AFP) images. He will help participants learn Tricks of the AFP Masters: Understanding Images. This class will explain methods for encoding image data for AFP presentation. Quality and color will be discussed in relation to image data. He will offer tips for picking and preparing the best image formats, along with performance considerations of different formats.
