MAN Roland Continues to Advance in 2007
Monday 18. February 2008 - Preliminary figures released for 2007 financial year: very good results while profitability remained at high level
MAN Roland announced today that its results from normal business operations rose again during the just-ended 2007 financial year. Both of MAN Rolands business divisions contributed to the companys successful development with the Web Press division posting very solid performance in absolute terms and vis-à-vis the competition. The Sheet-Fed division made notable advances stemming from multiple new product activities and permanent improvements achieved in its cost structures.
The companys EBIT totaled Euro 125 million while the Return on Sales (ROS) increased from 5.8%* to 6.5%. The above-average Return on Capital Employed (ROCE) even exceeded the excellent 30.6%* recorded during the same year-ago period and advanced to a very favorable 43.3%.
The main emphasis of MAN Rolands strategic platform remains focused on the expansion of the PRINTVALUE business activities with LifeCycleManagement (print services), press room products (printcom), software (printnet) and consulting (printadvice); expanding into growth markets; enhancing the range of web and sheet-fed products, as well as the implementation of RACE, the companys program to increase its corporate value.
MAN Roland anticipates that the decisive implementation of its corporate strategy will be positively reflected in the development of its business performance in 2008.
Order intake declined by 6%* to Euro 1,766 million because of varying effects of large projects, while sales revenues fell by 6%* to Euro 1,936 million. The export share represented 84% of total sales. The MAN Roland Groups order backlog totaled Euro 1,042 million on December 31, 2007, or 17%* less than the same year-ago figure. The decline was primarily attributable to the completion of unusually large orders.
Nevertheless, MAN Roland was able to reinforce its market position in the Web and Sheet-Fed business divisions. As of December 31, 2007 the MAN Roland Group had 8,726 employees (December 31, 2006: 8750).
