The Boston Globe Names Christopher Hall as Vice President of Human Resources

Friday 08. February 2008 - The Boston Globe announced today the appointment of Christopher Hall as Vice President of Human Resources, effective immediately. Mr. Hall most recently had been Executive Director of Labor/Employee Relations/Safety for The Boston Globe, a post he held since 2005.

As Vice President of Human Resources, Mr. Hall will oversee employee development, recruitment and hiring, benefits and services, health services, and diversity and inclusion for The Boston Globe. He will report into Al Larkin, Executive Vice President of The Boston Globe.
“Chris brings proven expertise to this key executive position,” said Steven Ainsley, publisher of The Boston Globe, “His broad-based experience gives him the ability and vision to strengthen our relationship with employees throughout our evolving multi-media enterprise.”
Mr. Hall has worked for The Boston Globe for fifteen years in a variety of roles within the employee relations. In his most recent position he played a significant role in the development and implementation of the newspaper’s overall labor strategy involving 14 separate bargaining units, as well as directing production and distribution labor relations, workplace safety, and union benefit funds.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Hall said “I welcome the opportunity to help shape such a dynamic workplace environment, especially as the Globe continues to develop our capabilities to deliver news and information across multiple media platforms.”
Mr. Hall is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, with a B.A. in Legal Studies, and the University of Rhode Island, with a Masters of Industrial Labor Relations. He also holds a law degree from Suffolk University, J.D.
