RPC Cobelplast-Montonate has enhanced its range of plastic card substrates with a new product manufactured in the biodegradable material PLA, reflecting growing consumer demand for environmentally-friendly card solutions.
Developed by NatureWorks, PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) is a sustainable maize-based polymer that degrades in industrial compost facilities. As it is produced from annually renewable resources, PLA offers a significant branding opportunity to emphasise ‘green’ credentials.

RPC Cobelplast-Montonate has worked with Natureworks to create a new substrate – Hi Print HC 81 – offering outstanding print reproduction and the lowest environment impact of any of its products. Potential applications include the gift card and telephone card markets.
