Award highlights Tedeco-Gizeh savoir-faire

The success of a pack format developed by RPC Tedeco-Gizeh Bouxwiller for dessert manufacturer Lucien Georgelin has been underlined by a prestigious award given to outstanding food products on the French retail market.

Friday 04. January 2008 - The success of a pack format developed by RPC Tedeco-Gizeh Bouxwiller for dessert manufacturer Lucien Georgelin has been underlined by a prestigious award given to outstanding food products on the French retail market.

In 2003, RPC Bouxwiller and Lucien Georgelin worked together to launch a range of jams, marmalades and fruit purées in small plastic containers. Thermoformed in barrier PP/EVOH/PP to maintain product quality over a long shelf life, the 100g and 140g pots retail in printed cardboard multi-packs that highlight the traditional values of the brand.

Lucien Georgelin’s Duo de Desserts product has recently won the ‘fruit-based desserts’ category at the “Taste of the Year 2007” awards. Eligible only to products that are readily available in French supermarkets, the awards are chosen on the basis of taste tests conducted by consumers themselves.

The product packaging will now carry the familiar Taste of the Year logo throughout 2007.

“RPC Tedeco-Gizeh Bouxwiller’s contribution has played an important part in the success of this product,” comments Mr Georgelin CEO of Lucien Georgelin. “As the ‘Saveur de l’annee’ awards are based on taste, the capability of barrier plastics to maintain freshness ensures that the product reaches the consumer in excellent condition.”

RPC Tedeco-Gizeh is now investigating the possibility of printing the pots in high definition for further brand enhancement.
