New features and applications offer added value and open new business opportunities for Kodak customers

Tuesday 17. February 2009 - New features and applications offer added value and open new business opportunities for Kodak customers

Kodak will announce during the Hunkeler Innovationdays 2009, taking place from 16th to 19th February in Lucerne, the expansion of the KODAK VERSAMARK VL2000 Printing System family with four new models, and introduce the new KODAK NEXPRESS Dimensional Clear Dry Ink.
On its booth, Kodak will demonstrate a VERSAMARK VL2000 Printing System with inline Hunkeler finishing. On the KODAK NEXPRESS S2500 Digital Production Color Press, Kodak will demonstrate the new Dimensional Printing solution providing a raised or 3D effect. During the Hunkeler event, Kodak will produce personalized calendars and dimensional masks to demonstrate the new capabilities. Furthermore, Kodak will demonstrate on its booth the comprehensive Web-based solution of the KODAK INSITE Prepress Portal System, allowing customers to be part of the Kodak’s Graphic Community. Kodak actively participates in the DoXnet event on February 17 with a presentation by Thomas Wimmer.
With the addition of four new models, the KODAK VERSAMARK VL-Series Printing Systems extend Kodak’s inkjet leadership and include six total models to meet the complex needs of a wide variety of users and a broad range of applications. Based on a flexible, powerful Drop on Demand (DOD) inkjet printing platform, the KODAK VERSAMARK VL-Series Printing Systems are equipped to handle complex variable data print applications such as transactional documents and direct mail.
Joining the VL2000 and VL2200 are the KODAK VERSAMARK VL6000 Printing System, the KODAK VERSAMARK VL6200 Printing System and the KODAK VERSAMARK VL4000 and VL4200 Printing Systems. All VERSAMARK VL-Series Printing Systems now feature a choice of dye based inks in addition to the existing pigment inks, an option which allows users to reduce costs and achieve an improved optical density.
A new addition to the KODAK VERSAMARK System Controller family is the KODAK VERSAMARK 700 Print Manager, a front end and digital press controller that expands workflow choices.
The KODAK NEXPRESS Dimensional Clear Dry Ink, displayed on the NEXPRESS S2500 Press, offers a raised or 3D printing effect that provides images with a dimensional feel that mimics the surface of the item in a photograph. For example, customers can print an image of an orange that feels like an orange or wood grain that feels like wood grain.
Dimensional Printing can be started by loading KODAK NEXPRESS Dimensional Clear Dry Ink into the Fifth Imaging Unit of a NEXPRESS Digital Production Color Press.
The combination of flexible, productive press and versatile imaging features further helps print providers create a competitive advantage by offering a unique capability that extends digital color printing into new application areas, which enables them to differentiate themselves and take advantage of the opportunity to sell higher value print.
In addition to Dimensional Printing, the KODAK NEXPRESS Fifth Imaging Unit Solution delivers spot color, watermarking, MICR secure printing, and protective coating, and relies on press profiling and standard inks to match up to 82 percent of the PANTONE spot color gamut with no custom mixing required.
Digital print workflow benefits from the KODAK’s family of KODAK INSITE System, a Web portal into the KODAK PRINERGY Workflow Systems enabling complete, centralized collaboration and effective communication among print service providers, print buyers and creative professionals. KODAK INSITE helps to increase geographic reach, enhance production efficiency, reduce cycle times and lower costs. KODAK INSITE products encompass Creative Workflow System, Asset Library, Prepress Portal System, Storefront System, Variable Data Print System and are part of the KODAK Unified Workflow Solutions that provide intelligent automation through open, modular and fully expandable software tools.
KODAK INSITE allows customers to join the Kodak’s Graphic Community, an online world where users can build strategic relationships with business partners anywhere to create new revenue opportunities.
