The Technical Association of the Graphic Arts (TAGA) is pleased to announce details on the 63rd Annual TAGA conference. The annual TAGA conference is the only international conference for the graphic arts that features technical papers on research straight from the laboratory, studies from the pressroom, and software and systems engineering studies. The conference takes place March 6-9, 2011 at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA.
Bristol commercial printer Apple Litho is undertaking a front to back investment, upgrading its workflow with Prinect Prepress Manager and Pressroom Manager, adding a Speedmaster XL 75-5+LX B2 press, a Polar 92X and a fully automated Stahlfolder TH66.

The global commodity markets are in disarray, and certainly as far as raw materials for the production of printing consumables, like fount solutions, washes and blankets are concerned, the outlook is volatile at best. In recent months many key base materials have increased in price, some by as much as 25% and although not all have seen such dramatic increases, the outlook for the next 6 months or so is that all these critical raw materials will see upward pressure.

William Charles Printing in Plainview, N.Y. reports the installation of a new Printmaster QM 46 2-color press. The new press replaces an aging machine and restores the companys small-format pressroom lineup to a total of three QM 46s. The shop also operates a 5-color Speedmaster SM 102, in addition to three POLAR cutters and a pair of Stahl folders.
