Late Friday afternoon, March 11, Owens-Illinois, Inc., received notice of a verdict handed down by a McLean County, Illinois, jury against four defendants, including Owens-Illinois, in a case alleging asbestos-related injuries. Of the total $90 million awarded by the jury against the four defendants, a combined $9.6 million in compensatory damages were assessed against all defendants, and $40 million in punitive damages were assessed against Owens-Illinois.
