Food safety in the spotlight

Hydro invests in Taiwan remelt plant

Hydro has signed an agreement to acquire a 45 percent ownership stake in Famco, an aluminium remelt plant under construction in Taiwan. Famco will have an initial annual production of about 75,000 tons of extrusion ingot.

C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc. Acquires the Williams Foods business

C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc. (CHG) announces its acquisition of Williams Foods, a leading producer of dry seasonings, mixes and meal enhancing products. The Williams business, which operates out of Lenexa, Kansas, produces a variety of products under its proprietary brands of Williams, Sun Bird and Country Store, as well as store brand labels for a variety of major retailers.

RFID Improves Inventory Accuracy

A preliminary analysis of the effect of radio frequency identification on retail-inventory accuracy demonstrated that an automated, RFID-enabled inventory system improved accuracy by about 13 percent in test stores compared to control stores.
