The Henri Nannen Award 2011 for special dedication to freedom of the press has been awarded to the French newspaper “Le Canard enchainé.” The name of the weekly newspaper established in 1915, which can be translated as “the duck in chains,” is an expression of protest against government censorship.
Newspapers will hear some good news about industry innovation at INK+BEYOND next week when more than 250 publishers, editors and corporate executives converge for the 92nd annual conference. The event, to be held April 29 – 30 in Richmond, BC, is hosted by Newspapers Canada, in partnership with the British Columbia Community Newspapers Association.
