As the price of oil continues to rise and the necessity for lower environmental impact increases, technology must adapt in order to conform. Energy curable inks and coatings are already known to have one of the lowest environmental impacts, when compared to solvent or waterborne systems, with zero VOCs and minimal energy required to cure. Within the past few years, developments have been made to make UV curing of inks and coatings even more energy efficient, thus reducing the impact on the environment even further.

Add-X Biotech AB is proud to announce the receipt of the Certificate of Conformity given out by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA). This certificate shows that the production, as well as the product AddiFlex, complies with the standards set out in Standard UAE S. 5009:2009 “Standard & Specification for Oxo-Biodegradation of Plastic Bags and Other Disposable Plastic Objects”.

HEXIS is launching a new type of digital printing vinyl for large format solvent, eco-solvent and Latex inkjet printers.

The HX190WG2 is a 50µm layered cast vinyl film and because of its particular formulation is more versatile and more “tolerant” with regard to the imperfections of the different print systems. The layered structure will ensure that ink will not affect the adhesive properties and thus maintains the excellent handling properties of the film.

Stora Enso and Kemira launch a unique water stewardship project in Guangxi, China

Stora Enso and Kemira have today announced the launch of a joint project to promote responsible water management and community engagement in Guangxi Province in Southern China. Water is a crucial resource for sustainable plantation forestry in Guangxi, where Stora Enso leases 90 000 hectares of land and manages eucalyptus tree plantations. The new project aims to find new solutions for responsible water management through stakeholder surveys, community work and water-related capacity building.

Stora Enso acquires Fortum’s power plant and invests in renewable energy at Enocell Mill site

Stora Enso Biomaterials Division’s Enocell Pulp Mill’s power plant will be transferred from Fortum Power and Heat Oy to Stora Enso at approximately EUR 16 million in accordance with an existing finance lease agreement. Stora Enso has approximately EUR 16 million short term finance lease liability specific to this transaction in the September 2013 balance sheet. The Division will also invest approximately EUR 13.5 million to increase use of renewable energy at the mill.
