Print and paper is a highly sustainable form of communication in today’s digital society. Despite this, there are still misconceptions that it is wasteful, detrimental to the environment and responsible for deforestation. More worrying is the misunderstanding that digital communication is more environmentally friendly, which is not always the case.

GMDE new agent for EAE in Italy

EAE welcomes GMDE as a new agent! GMDE will represent EAE in the entire graphical market of Italy. Due to the collaboration between Q.I. Press Controls and EAE, the agency decided it was about time to add EAE in their portfolio. Menno Jansen, Director Q.I. Press Conrtols, believes that having just one agent for both Q.I. UPM closes 130,000 tonnes of newsprint capacity in France

UPM permanently closes paper machine No.3 at UPM Chapelle Darblay in France as of today, 22 June. The consultations regarding its closure were finalised at the end of April and approved by the Labour administration in the beginning of June. The plan to close the machine was announced in November 2014. The closure has an impact on 187 positions at the mill.

UPM’s ValChem project receives significant EU funding to demonstrate wood to chemicals value chain

UPM’s ValChem project has received EUR 13.1 million funding from the European Union. The project will be done in cooperation with Sekab, METabolic EXplorer and Technische Universität Darmstadt. The total budget of the project is around EUR 18.5 million.
