Like all paper grades, the new hemp paper is made with pure spring water, which Hahnemühle has been using since its founding days at the companys only production facility in a nature reserve. The water is channelled into the nearby river after a largely closed paper machine cycle.
Fifty years ago, on 16 October 1971, Metsä Boards Kemi mill started kraftliner production. Initially, the plant produced brown kraftliner, then the products were continuously developed to offer increasingly high-quality packaging and presentation materials.
The sale consists of the real estate, and no personnel was transferred. Kaipola Green Port plans to develop the mill site for manufacturing and industrial logistics purposes. UPM closed the Kaipola paper mill permanently in early 2021.
