Sappi’s new Tempo product revolutionises silk paper printing

Sappi Fine Paper Europe has managed to accomplish what printers have desired, but thought impossible: to manufacture a high quality coated silk paper that prints and finishes like a gloss! Tempo Silk, an innovative coated woodfree paper was invented by Sappi to offer printers increased productivity and faster job turnarounds. The game changing brand is available in sheets in basis weights from 100g/m2 – 300g/m2.

DSM invests in development of bio-based materials in China

DSM Venturing, the corporate venturing unit of Royal DSM N.V., today announced that it has participated in a USD 20 million financing round in Tianjin Green Bio-Science Co., Ltd (China). The proceeds will be used to build China’s largest manufacturing plant for Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) in the Tianjin Economic Development Area (TEDA).

Stora Enso’s plantation temporarily invaded in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil

On Tuesday morning 4 March Stora Enso’s plantation in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul was invaded by around 800 protesters, most of whom were women. According to the invaders, the occupation was part of a series of actions planned against the agricultural sector within the days leading up to International Women’s Day. The invasion ended in the afternoon of the same day.
