PRICE INCREASES NEEDED IN ALL BOARD AND PAPER BUSINESS

Profitability in the board and paper industry has been sliding for a number of years. Costs have been rising heavily. The increase has been especially strong in wood and energy prices. At the same time, sales prices have not compensated for the cost escalation despite price increases for some grades. It is clear that price increases are needed to improve profitability.

Rock-Tenn Company Announces CartonMate(R) Bleached Paperboard Price Increase

Rock-Tenn Company (NYSE: RKT) announced today a $65.00 per ton price increase on CartonMate(R) bleached paperboard. The price increase is effective with shipments on July 26, 2008.

BASF to increase prices globally for Styrenic Copolymer Specialties and Engineering Plastics

As of July 1st, 2008, BASF will be raising its prices globally up to 400 Euro per metric ton across its portfolio of Styrenic Copolymer Specialties and Engineering Plastics. This includes the Styrenic Copolymer Specialties Luran S (ASA and ASA/PC), Terluran (ABS)-Specialties, Terlux (MABS), Luran HH (AMSAN), Luran (SAN), Terblend N (ABS/PA), Styroflex (SBC) and the Engineering Plastics Ultramid, Miramid, Capron, Nypel (PA), Ultradur (PBT) and Ultraform (POM).

BASF increases prices for polyetheramines

Effective immediately, or as existing contracts permit, BASF will increase prices for polyetheramines in Asia, Europe and South America by 5-10% depending on the type of product. BASF had previously increased the prices for polyetheramines in the NAFTA region effective May 1st at the same rate.

BASF to increase prices for polymer dispersions and powders

Effective July 1st, 2008, or as contracts allow, BASF will increase prices in Europe, Africa and Western Asia for polymer dispersions and additives by €80-100 per metric ton and for polymer powders by €160 per metric ton.

BASF to raise prices for Terluran Commodities, Styrolux and Polystyrene in Europe

s of July 1st, 2008, BASF will be raising its prices in Europe for Terluran (ABS) Commodities and Styrolux (SBC polymer) by 100 Euro per metric ton. At the same time the GMP (gross market price) for Polystyrene will be increased by 50 Euro per metric ton.
