Celanese Announces Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Price Increases

Celanese Corporation (NYSE: CE), a leading, global chemical company and a North American leader in Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) polymers, announced today that its subsidiary, Celanese EVA Performance Polymers Inc., will increase the price of all grades of LDPE by $0.05/pound effective March 1, 2010, or as contracts allow.

UPM KAUKAS AND KYMI MILLS TO CONTINUE EFFICIENCY IMPROVEMENTS

UPM’s pulp and paper mills Kaukas in Lappeenranta and Kymi in Kouvola, Finland, will continue measures to improve efficiency. The target is to improve competitiveness through more flexible and cost-efficient ways to operate. The measures include increasing cooperation between production and maintenance and between other departments. In addition, the use of joint resources between Kaukas and Kymi will be increased.

Hexion Specialty Chemicals to Raise Prices for Epoxy Resins In Europe, the Middle East and Africa

Effective February 15, 2010 or as contract terms allow, Hexion Specialty Chemicals, Inc., will increase the prices of its liquid, solid and solution epoxy resin grades by 200 Euro/MT in Europe and 300 USD/MT in Middle East and Africa.

Two Sides publishes open letter to Cambridge City Council over iPad use being good for the environment

Two Sides, the UK initiative to promote the responsible production and use of print and paper, and encourage its use as an attractive, practical and sustainable communications medium, has issued an open letter to Cambridge City Council in response to the recently reported news that it is considering buying its councillors iPads.
