Celanese Announces Price Increases for Ticona GUR and GHR Products

Celanese Corporation (NYSE: CE), a global technology and specialty materials company, and its Ticona engineering polymers business, today announced a global price increase of 18 percent on all GUR ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) and GHR very high molecular weight polyethylene (VHMW-PE) products effective with all shipments beginning on February 1, 2011, or as contracts allow.

Borealis upgrades at Porvoo polyethylene plant support Borstar PE product development

At yesterday’s meeting in Vienna, the Borealis Supervisory Board approved a EUR 17 million investment to upgrade one of its polyethylene plants in Porvoo, Finland. The project includes a new ethylene compressor as well as an upgrade of the monomer purification including all necessary auxiliary equipment. Mechanical completion is expected for autumn 2012.

Vulcan 202 Provides Quality and Speed Soluion at Printing Partners

Printing Partners Brussels will complete 2010 by equipping all 12 towers on its Manroland Colorman coldset press with Vulcan 202 blankets, following successful trails of the Trelleborg product. The search for a blanket that provides consistent high print quality, combined with the ability to operate the Colorman at its full 42,000 copies per hour capacity, has taken more than a year, as plant manager Eric Elyn explains.

UPM TO ACQUIRE MYLLYKOSKI AND RHEIN PAPIER, TRANSACTION IMPROVES UPM’S COST COMPETITIVENESS AND STRENGTHENS PREREQUISITES FOR PRINT MEDIA SUCCESS

UPM-Kymmene Corporation has entered into an agreement to acquire Myllykoski Corporation and Rhein Papier GmbH (“Myllykoski”). The approximate enterprise value of the businesses acquired is EUR 900 million.

UPM BOARD OF DIRECTORS DECIDES ON DIRECTED SHARE ISSUE AS PART OF THE CONSIDERATION FOR MYLLYKOSKI

On the basis of the authorisation granted by the Annual General Meeting of shareholders of UPM on 22 March 2010, UPM’s Board of Directors has today decided on the issuance of 5 million new UPM shares as a part of the consideration for the acquisition of Myllykoski Corporation and Rhein Papier GmbH (“Myllykoski”).

Myllykoski owners signed agreement to sell Myllykoski and Rhein Papier to UPM

The owners of Myllykoski Group and Rhein Papier GmbH have reached an agreement to sell the companies to UPM. The transaction includes all Myllykoski and Rhein Papier entities and their operations in Finland, Germany and the United States as well as the sales network. The agreement does not impact the position of the Myllykoski and Rhein Papier personnel.
