3 Sigma Expands Again

Following a major expansion of the company four years ago which doubled the size and capacity of their Troy, Ohio, operation, 3 Sigma is growing again. Funding and preparations are now in place to add a 14th production coating line which will be the company’s largest and most capable piece of equipment. Work on the project is scheduled to start early in 2011 and be completed in the third quarter.

Metso to increase activity in the development of torrefaction

Metso and Bio Energy Development North AB have signed a letter of intent aiming to participate in an industrial scale development project for torrefaction. The project is scheduled to start up in 2011 and the target is to install an industrial scale development unit in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, for torrefaction of wood biomasses and residues from the agricultural sector.

PPG, Chinese Subsidiary, U.S. Government Resolve Export Control Matter

PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) today announced that it and its wholly-owned subsidiary, PPG Paints Trading Shanghai (China) (SPT), have reached a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) related to violations of U.S. export control laws in connection with certain paint shipments in 2006 for use by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission in the construction of a nuclear power plant.

Trelleborg Acquires Lutz Sales Inc. – Strengthens Its Presence on the North American Market for Precision Seals

Trelleborg (STO:TRELB), through its business area Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, has signed an agreement to acquire the US company Lutz Sales Inc., a privately owned distributor. Lutz has yearly sales of approximately SEK 100 M and approximately 50 employees.
