ABITIBIBOWATER COMPLETES SALE OF SELECT TIMBERLAND ASSETS IN QUEBEC

AbitibiBowater announced today that it has completed the sale of approximately 76,724 hectares (189,508 acres) of private timberlands in Quebec, Canada, for CDN$70 million in cash. AbitibiBowater plans to use the proceeds from this sale for general corporate purposes.

Charles Jackson, vice president of operations and site leader for Texas City Operations, has announced his plans to retire May 31. He is also business manufacturing leader (BML) for Solvents and Intermediates (S&I) and for Vinyl Acetate Monomers (VAM).

Chicago Sun-Times Names Donald Hayner Editor in Chief, Andrew Herrmann as Managing Editor

The Chicago Sun-Times announced that it has named Donald Hayner as Editor in Chief of the Chicago Sun-Times and suntimes.com. Mr. Hayner, who has most recently been Managing Editor of the Sun-Times, replaces Michael Cooke, who resigned earlier this month. The Sun-Times also announced that it has named long-time reporter and editor Andrew Herrmann as Managing Editor.
