Danaher Reports First Quarter 2009 Results

Danaher Corporation (NYSE: DHR) announced results for the quarter ended April 3, 2009. Net earnings for the first quarter of 2009 were $237.7 million, or $0.72 per diluted share, down 13% versus net earnings per diluted share for the first quarter of 2009.

Gannett’s Detroit Free Press wins Pulitzer for coverage of mayoral scandal

The Detroit Free Press won its ninth Pulitzer Prize today for its coverage of the text message scandal that led to the resignation and jailing of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. The Detroit Free Press won in the local reporting category and was awarded a $10,000 prize.
