Sun Chemical has acquired certain assets and liabilities of Handschy inks, coatings and varnishes business, from its parent company, Graphic Packaging International, Inc. Handschys customer lists, formulations and trademarks will be included in the acquisition.
Bemis Company, Inc. (NYSE:BMS) today announced that it has acquired the South American rigid packaging operations of Huhtamaki Oyj, a global manufacturer of consumer and specialty packaging. This rigid packaging business, which includes three facilities in Brazil and one facility in Argentina, recorded annual net sales of approximately US$85.8 million in 2008, primarily to dairy and food service markets.

Huhtamaki sells its rigid plastic consumer goods business in Brazil to Dixie Toga S.A. and in Argentina to American Plast S.A., both subsidiaries of Bemis Company, Inc. The annual net sales of the divested business is some EUR 60 million and it currently employs some 640 people. The agreed value for the transaction is EUR 30 million.

Domtar Corporation (NYSE/TSX: UFS) announced today a proposed offering of $250 million aggregate principal amount of senior notes due 2017. The Company intends to use the net proceeds from the offering to fund any portion of the purchase price of the 7.875% Notes due 2011 tendered and accepted by the Company for purchase pursuant to its previously announced tender offer not funded with cash on hand and, to the extent there are remaining proceeds, for general corporate purposes.
