Kavalan launches The Green Reality podcast to look beyond sustainability headlines

Wednesday 16. September 2026 - Kavalan, has launched The Green Reality, a new podcast series that looks beyond environmental slogans, selective statistics and familiar sustainability narratives to examine the evidence, complexities and wider consequences behind some of todays biggest environmental questions.Topics across the ten-part series include carbon emissions and removal, air pollution, resource scarcity, plastics and waste, Life Cycle Assessment, and the wider economic, societal and geopolitical factors that shape environmental decision-making.

Host Jack Gocher, Editor of Eye On Display, is joined by Kavalan Senior Researcher, Mark Chen, to explore why context matters, how reducing one environmental impact can sometimes shift the burden elsewhere, and why the data can reveal a more complex picture than a headline or single metric suggests.

Drawing on extensive research, the series examines how carbon, natural resources, human health, economics, society and geopolitics intersect – and why environmental decisions rarely exist in isolation. Across ten episodes, these global questions are connected to their real-world implications for businesses, industries and wider supply chains.

Nova Abbott, Head of Marketing at Kavalan, comments: “Sustainability is often discussed one issue at a time – carbon, plastics, recycling, water or energy – when in reality these challenges are deeply interconnected. With The Green Reality, we want to zoom out and ask some of the more difficult questions.

“What happens when improving one environmental metric creates an impact somewhere else? Are we measuring what matters, or simply what is easiest to communicate? And what does the evidence tell us when we look beyond the headline? This isn’t about claiming to have all the answers. It’s about bringing more context, transparency and balance into the sustainability conversation, so that businesses and individuals can make better-informed decisions.”

The first episode of The Green Reality is now available. Discussing the example of a recycling scheme that exposed a shocking revelation into the way sustainability is sometimes measured, Jack and Mark explore burden-shifting, headline sustainability claims, and why improving one metric doesn’t necessarily mean we’re reducing our overall impact.

Weekly episodes can be accessed on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
