solidplatealu cutting-die from Marbach: Lightweight and precise – even in large format

Thursday 08. December 2022 - The solidplatealu consists of 3 layers: Two aluminum top layers enclose a center layer of secondary material (solidplate core) from above and below. This special material combination ensures a high (dimensional) stability but with low weight.

For almost 10 years, the globally operating diemaker Marbach has been offering a very special, dimensionally stable dieboard under the name “Marbach solidplate”. Now this tool is available in a new aluminum version which, due to its low weight, demonstrates all its advantages especially for large folding box formats.
The solidplate|alu consists of 3 layers: Two aluminum top layers enclose a center layer of secondary material (solidplate core) from above and below. This special material combination ensures a high (dimensional) stability but with low weight.
The solidplate|alu is used primarily for food packaging, but numerous other applications are also possible, such as in the pharmaceutical or cosmetics industries.
Jan Brunner, Sales Manager at Marbach: “When die-cutting large formats, precision is what counts. The larger the tool, the more the smallest dimensional tolerances have an impact. Tool weight is also a significant factor for large formats.”
For this reason, Marbach has launched its solidplate|alu dieboard. Brunner continues, “By using aluminum instead of steel, this dieboard is not only very precise and so ensuring productivity and best die-cutting results in packaging production, but it is also lightweight and thus easy to handle. One further great effect: the lower weight saves transport costs.”
The solidplate|alu is a dimensionally stable dieboard. It is characterized by its good hygroscopic properties (dimensional stability), an optimal register to the steel counter plate, and its durability as well as the possibility of a high number of reknifings. In addition, the ejector rubber on the solidplate|alu can be replaced with particular ease due to the existing metallic cover plate.
